Fashion Faux Pas

Things you just should not do:

Wear a denim jacket with denim pants

Also known as a jean suit, a Jute or a Tenneesee/Texas/Canadian tuxedo, this ensemble is a poor choice for many reasons:

- Denim is casual, suits are not. Combining the two concepts is confusing.
- Denim suits do not really exist in nature. Therefore one is constructed from two denim items of differing washes, fabrics, construction, etc. and do not pair well.
- There are so many other GOOD options for a denim top and denim pants...why not go with one of those!

Wear a hat to work

If you work in an office and if your line of work is anything other than construction, you should not wear a hat to work. Actually, unless you're attending a sporting event or it's Easter Sunday in Montgomery (or the equivalent) you should not wear hats indoors. But please PLEASE do not wear a hat to work at your downtown PR firm office. And DEFINITELY dont do it on a day that's not Friday.

Athletic socks with dress shoes

Men, women and children: this applies to you. If you are wearing dress shoes with slacks or trousers or even denim pants, DO NOT wear white athletic socks. As a wise friend once told me, your footwear doesnt have to match your outfit, it just has to match the attitude of the outfit. White socks do not match the outfit or the attitude of any ensemble that includes dress shoes.

I have a few additions to your Fashion Faux Pas.
1. Jean Shorts. Unless you're a Florida Gators fan and then you just can't help it...bless your heart.
2. Wearing shorts with white socks pulled halfway up your shins (as is commonly seen in Georgia).
