Years ago I drafted a list of things I'm looking for in men I date. Though originally penned when I was about 16, many of the things on that list still hold up. Things like:
"taller than I am", "gainfully employed", "kind", "fun" and other basics.
Fortunately, throughout my dating experience, I've met and dated men who met many of these requirements. And while I'm still single, I've felt pretty confident that my list of requirements was reasonable and thorough.
I was wrong.
There were a few qualifications that I did not think needed to be written down, but apparently, I need to be more specific. I have since updated my list to include "American citizen" as I do not care to get involved with anyone who runs the risk of deportation...again.
